Many Motorola Xoom Tablet users who just installed the latest Skype App version 2.6.0.75 with both Android HoneyComb 3.1 and Android 3.2 are experiencing the same problem when trying to do a Skype Video Call, the function simply doesn’t work. The Skype Xoom video call issue takes places when using 3g or WiFi alike, but it’s worth mentioning that the audio remains unnafected during the video calling. When the user makes a video call through Skype, the screen turns black, and even more, when tapping on the hang button, the Skype App just freezes. When the user is the one to make the call, the video works performs well until the other user answers the call, at that moment, the Skype app for Xoom goes blank.

Most of the time you need to force close the Xoom Skype app in order to open it again. This particular problem is not related to the device receiving the calls, so it really doesn’t matter if it is a iPod, iPad, iPhone, Android, Mac or PC the one receiving the call.

How to make Skype Video Calling Work on Motorola Xoom Tablet

  1. Completely uninstall the Skype App version 2.6.0.75: Go to settings, choose Applications, manage Applications, check Skype, tap on Clear Data (important, ), Force Stop and finally uninstall
  2. If you haven’t done so previously, enable app downloads from external sources. Go to settings > Applications > Unknowns Sources. If you wish, undo this step once the old Skype App for Xoom is installed.
  3. Install the previous version Skype 2.5.4.162 from here.

NOTE: Remember to uncheck the autoupdate option from the app market, otherwise, you will end up installing the latest version again.
