Though Skype is being used by millions around the globe for making calls, regular mobile phone calls are still the norm. There’s a known bug in Droid X that brings up/opens the Skype app when you try to make a regular phone call (after dialing the number and tapping on the call button), this problem occurs across all Android versions.
To prevent Skype from opening and trying to replace regular mobile phone calls in your Droid X, follow these steps

- Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
- Find and tap on the Skype Icon (take a look in the downloads TAB)
- Tap on the Reset to Default Settings button
- Make another outward regular phone call and verify it works as it should now
